The charming city of Mardin. I went to Mardin last week with my friends. We went to by plane and we landed Diyarbakır and we went to Mardin by bus and that time the excitement of navigate began inside me.

After relaxing that night we began to ride the city. Firstly we went to Kasimiye Madrasah. It was built by Sultan Kasım in 1469. The courtyard of the Madrasah has poor and its story very interesting. Water in the poor has different mystery. From birth to death human life is depicted with the flow of water.  The water from the fountain represents the birth, pouring in the youth, narrow trough of water represent maturity and big pool represents the death. After I learnt the story, I thought that it is right our life is like the story. Also the Madrasah’s doorknob is interesting if the visitor is women, she hits underneath and the sound is thin, if the visitor is men, he hits knob upper parts and the volume is thick so, the person who in the Madrasah easily understand who is visitor and according to situation men or women open the door. Also the Madrasah’s place is very beautiful and it has fascinating scene. I took a picture with its scene.

Secondly, we went Mardin Museum is built by Ignatios Behman Banni in 1895. It is third floor. In the first floor, we saw gravestones, tablets, ground stones belonging to various civilizations and I took a pictures. In the second floor, we saw mosaics about Assyrian and Roman periods also we saw ornaments and silver jewellery. In the third floor, we saw Archaeological Artifacts Showroom. We looked over jewelries, medical instrument and oil lamps belonging to Roman and Seljukian Periods. I took also other pictures in there.

After these places, we went to Ulu Mosque, Cami’i Kebir. Mosque’s minaret is built by Kudbettin Ilgazi in 1176. When we went to there it is restored and I think, after restore it will be more beautiful for the visitor. Mosque has the huge view and it has very long minaret and I took a picture. While we were riding, we learnt that Mardin has different religious especially Assyrian. About 100 Assyrian families live in Mardin and after that we went to their holy place Deyrulzarafan Monastery. It is so big and it had a sun temple and Assyrian people worshiped to it before coming Christianity and after coming Christianity they built Monastery. Also its place very beautiful it has fascinating scene and I took a pictures of course. We finished our tour with the Monastery.

I think, everybody absolutely see Mardin, because the city is so fascinating, historical and exciting. When Mardin’s children saw us they were so happy and they are so friendly and they greeted to us with flowers. In the Mardin these children left deep scars on me, they are very intelligent, they have not seen any other place so when they see us, their face, their smile, their excitement were valuable for me and I said fortunately I came. My suggestion to you please you go to first opportunity.

Firstly, we reached Urfa in the evening and we went to Sıra Gecesi, it is traditional amusement night for Urfa’s people. When we came in, we met traditional furniture at Star Palace Guest House. We just paid 45TL for everything added food. Urfa is famous for ‘kebap’ and ‘çiğköfte’ and I ate both of these in Sıra Night. We listened traditional music and people danced with the music and they take ‘halay’, it is a kind of folk dance, with their traditional music also halay is important for them and it is indispensable for them. I and my friends so enjoyed in Sıra Gecesi and you should absolutely go to Sıra Gecesi and taste this pleasure.

After the boat trip we back to Urfa and we visited the Prophet Hz. Eyüp’s place. I saw Hz. Eyüp’s cave and Hz. Eyüp’s tomb. Hz. Eyüp is named patience prophet because he caught very bad illness and he defeats it with his illness and his belief in God. After I visited his tomb I went to healing water fountain and I drank water. According to some oracle, the water is healing for illness and people drink the water for their illness. There is so crowded and when I was very surprised when I seeing the crowd.

Urfa is known both Hz. Eyüp Prophet and Hz. Ibrahim Prophet and after Hz. Eyüp’s place we went to “Balıklı Lake” where the place of Hz. Ibrahim. The lake is full of fish and it has interesting and real story. Hz. Ibrahim was thrown in the fire by Nemrut and the wood turned to fish and the fire turned to water with the power of God. The place is so spiritual things and its view is very fascinating. While we were riding, I took pictures around lake. Also you can take a pictures with traditional costumes just 1TL. After that I and my friends went to bazaar in place. Bazaar is full of traditional costumes, jewellery, ornaments and many special things belong the city and we bought some things for us and present for our friends.

Maiden Tower   Leave a comment

I have been living in Istanbul about four years and I could not go to the Maiden Tower but my friends offered going to there last week and I went to the Maiden Tower with my friend.

The Maiden Tower located at the southern entrance of Bosphorus and off the coast of Uskudar in Istanbul. It is small and very beautiful place. When I first saw the Maiden Tower, I thought why it is located at the middle of the sea and although its location is not suitable for transportation why it is so popular and my friend told the Tower’s story.

Its story is so interesting; a sultan had a much beloved daughter. One day, an oracle said that she would be killed by a venomous snake on her 18th birthday. The sultan built the Tower in the middle of the Bosphorus to protect his daughter until her 18th birthday but her birthday day the sultan brought her a basket of exotic fruits as a birthday gift, delighted that he was able to prevent the prophecy. Upon reaching into the basket, however, an asp that had been hiding among the fruit bit the young princess and she died just as the oracle had predicted. So, the name of the tower was the Maiden Tower.

After I learned its story, I wanted to go more there and I went with my friends. We went to other side, Uskudar, with using a boat and we walked the Maiden Tower’s coast. The boat trip to go to the tower, its paid 5 TL for student we paid and we went the tower with boat.

When I first step the Tower, I was excited and I wanted to immediately enter. The tower is two floors and, there is a restaurant in the first floor and a cafe at the top of the tower. I went immediately to the second floor and watched from there Istanbul and it looked another pretty nice and I felt myself like a princess in there. I took a lot of picture and I sent pictures my friends because when she saw pictures, she could not forbear and immediately she came.

The Maiden Tower is a place worth seeing. There has different atmosphere and when you go, you can easily recognize it. I think, you should not catch its atmosphere and beautiful sight.

Istiklal Avenue   Leave a comment

Istiklal Avenue is one of the most famous avenues in Beyoğlu, Istanbul and it is so long avenue about three kilometers. It was called Cadde-i Kebir during the Ottoman Empire and its name was changed as Istiklal Avenue in 1923.

Istiklal Avenue has night club, pub, cafes, restaurant, boutique, bookstores that why you can easily find whatever, I think. Istiklal Avenue is always crowded almost every hour of the day and all local and foreign tourists are definitely visited there. Istiklal Avenue is home to many cultural centers like theater, cinema, bookstores and art galleries. While you walking, you can be easily found the world famous brands in the street. The street is cosmopolitan and it has all kind of people. Istiklal Avenue has a tramway and it pass at the middle of the street and it moves about 2500 passenger on the street. It is also so enjoyable. İstiklal Street is beautiful both day and night. You can think two faces the street. The street’s one face is full off exciting, beauty and enjoy and other face is back alleys of the street. Back alleys of the street are very mysterious and dangerous.

When I go to Istiklal Avenue, different thoughts always get me. The avenue is not like other street because it is full of sometimes comedy, sometimes drama, sometimes fear. One day, while I was walking Istiklal Avenue and someone tried to steal my phone because of that, since then I will be very anxious, when I got to there. I have a suggestion to you and please am careful while walking Istiklal Avenue.

Istiklal Avenue witnessed both joys and protests, riots many events. So, if you want to easily find something, if you enjoy, if you see a lot of different kind of people and if you want to taste a different flavors, you should go Istiklal Avenue.

The palace is very big and it is third floor. It has twenty-six rooms and six big saloons. The palace separated two parts, haremlik (it is for just women) and selamlık (it is for two groups men and women). The palace is full of glorious furnitures and these are completely original.

When we entered the garden of the palace, we meet an excellent view of the throat. Then, we went into the palace. First entered the door the moment the image was very nice. Chandelier, stairways and ceiling decorations were wonderful. We walked palace with companion. The palace has a very beautiful ornamental poor in the middle of the saloon at second floor. Ceiling decorations of the palace was very beautiful and ceilings of the palace have pictures of ships. After few rooms we visited the Sultan’s bath with great sea views. When I saw the Sultan’s bath, I thought, bathe must very enjoyable in there with the beautiful sight.

After visiting all the rooms of the palace we went to garden with my friends. Garden has two doors adjacent to the sea wall. I opened a door and I meet very beautiful scene, deep blue sea and Bosphorus Bridge and we took a photo with sea and Bosphorus Bridge. In addition, one on either side of the garden had a swimming pool.
